p.1 #1 · Teleconverters to use with Nikkor AF-P lenses?

Can anyone enlighten me as to which TC's are compatible with AF-P lenses, please?

I have a 70-300 DX lens that is beautifully sharp but would like to add a little more reach. My "google" research doesn't help me at all.

Here are a couple more links:
http://cdn-5.nikon-cdn.com/Assets/Common-Assets/Images/Teleconverter-Compatibility/en_US_Comp_chart.html
https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4245160

If you read through the second link (DP Review thread asking this very same question), one poster (GlennW) states that "the front element of the TC hits the rear element of the lens" (referring to the AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED lens). If that is the case, both the lens and TC will damaged. Be careful. I hope this helps.

Thank you Keith

I'll have to be content with what I've got! I'm getting good results with the Bigma on the D7100 and I have a MF 300 f4 Ai s with a TC14b which is fine on a tripod but not easy to focus on anything moving. Unfortunately the relative cost of the Nikkor longer glass is exorbitant in our currency and at this stage of my life I have to balance utility with pride of ownership

Thanks for your trouble, much appreciated.

Peter

Don't even try screwing with a TC on any 70-300 zoom.
Pick up a Sigma 100-400 for a little more than one costs.
Better IQ and faster focus, just sayin'

Thanks Will - I always respect your opinion.

None of the AF-P lenses are TC-compatible.

Look at the Sigma 100-400 or the Nikon 200-500E for additional reach at relatively low investment. The Nikkor is compatible with TC14EIII's as well.

Thanks Adam - sadly all camera stuff is really badly affected by our lousy exchange rate and also duties and VAT so I stick with what I have for the most part. Despite it's age, >10 yrs, the old Bigma is still pretty capable. I enjoy your blog though but would have to work again (horror) to match your GAS

Being in Canada, I understand the exchange rate issues, we suffer from it as well (albeit to a much smaller extent).

Glad you enjoy my blog, you'd be surprised how little I actually spend as I'm a notorious horse trader, most of my changes are funded by whatever I'm getting rid of. I rarely buy either new or the current model of anything (right now for example I have a D300, Sony A7II and an old FE)
