The official bird of the Province of British Columbia, the Steller's Jay has more character than any Hollywood actor. Being a member of the corvid family, they are highly intelligent, and make a variety of calls, including mimicking various sounds that they have heard along their journeys. I had one in my back yard making the call of a Red-tailed Hawk!
The last image shows how they can be little piggies, cramming peanuts in the large area of their throat, known as a "crop".
Ha, these are great! Love the pinecone shot and the squiggly branch one
#5 overall is my pick, love the contrast, light and comp on it.
For me #4 would be fun to play with and darken up and just have that eye be dominant and more shadow/contrast below.
A most enjoyable series with as mentioned some very unique perches!
Sweet!

That is a ridiculously good set, Colin. If you're going to get the blues, this is the best kind (other than the bluebirds of happiness, I suppose).
