Nope I'm not going to settle for 8 out 1100 I want to see them all
First, I just voted, 2nd these are like Holy Grail material for me Joshua. This is a beautiful and amazing sequence, love the action, poses and colors! Delightfully presented, I be enjoying this series a few times over, fabulous
Karl
Karl, thank you for your kind compliment and for your vote! I really got lucky and better be lucky than good. I ended up with 42 keepers our of >1,000 images. I really didn't care how many I took and what the position of the merganser was. as it turned out, some of them showed the merganser facing away from me but it turned around again. And I really thought it was better for me to get too many images rather than not enough. I noticed that in quite a few images, the male merganser closed his eyes, especially during shaking process. And, I got to select the ones with the eyes open or half open, at least. Plus, I had the A9 in silent mode. So, it really didn't matter.

Most impressive set of images. The low angle of these shots significantly add to the image, well done.
Thank you very much, Louie! Yes, my knees were hurting afterwards and I soiled my jeans big time but it was worth it.

Awesome series - must say, was kinda surprised by the last one.
Thank you very much! Both the merganser and crayfish drifted to a sunlit area at the end. The lighting conditions and lighting qualities changed there. Is that why at you are referring to a surprise?

Joshua, wonderful images and it sounds like quite an event! I think number 7 is an award winner, you should enter in a contest!
BOB
Bob, thank you very much! I like that image a lot, too and # 5 where the entire lobster was visible and the intensity of the merganser is palpable.

It will be hard (if not impossible) to beat this, Joshua, as this is as good as it gets! They are technically excellent and it’s quite impossible for you to top this ... so don’t bother going back there with Fred and I. YGMV!
Thank you very much, Bobby! I am flattered and thank you also for your V. I enjoy the experience and chances are, I won't be able to get double lucky but it won't stop me from trying....

Superb action set Joshua. If you've ever been pinched by a crayfish, you know why the claws are removed...
Ron
Thank you very much, Ron! Although it was never happened to me, but I could imagine the pain and indeed, at the right location, it could have killed the merganser.
