So what country are these destination weddings in?
Every country has different laws regarding Drones. Regarding the Mavic Mini and its 249g regulation free weight - I believe that is only for recreational flying - commercial use has no such weight cutoff. But that would be for FAA only.
But how long do you think it will last before the FAA rules gets changed now that everyone is going out and getting a Mavic Mini to avoid the FAA regulations.
Plus the Mini uses a camera that has a cell phone sized sensor. Would you be happy with that?
Of course, one would need to know the rules in the country you plan to be shooting in to know. Your buddies doing this commercial should already know the laws & rules and should be able to quote you all the sections and sub-sections that they operate under or the exemptions that allow them to do it without any licensing or insurance (if that is what they are doing).

Perhaps the rules vary state to state (I am in the US). We do 80 - 150 weddings per month, many have drone footage and we don't have any permit issues.
Actually, most of the drone operators are using the Mavic Pro2 or Mavic Air, both are technically above the weight limit, but no enforcement means we have no problems - lucky for us I guess.
As for quality, my phone gives pretty damn good results for what it is. Couples are blown away by the POV and certainly not pixel peepers, so that is not an issue either.
That's simply not true. If you are giving or selling images to someone else the FAA considers this commerical and you need a 107 license and the aircraft must be registered as commerical regardless of the weight.

I agree that shooting a video on a drone is definitely better than shooting a photo plus it really depends if it will be part of your overall service you provide for your clients it can also be added as extra service you can create aerial footage for the newlyweds but it will cost more you can sell its service once you've captured a beautiful video and use it as an example.
Your creativity will only be your limit.
check this one https://www.adorama.com/djimaw.html it is under 1000 USD plus I have read blogs where they are the one who creates their own rig through customizing.

That's a huge number of weddings...are you a nationwide wedding company?
I'm sorry - maybe you meant "per year" - you said "80-150 per month" To get that number, you'd have to be doing 45-1 hour beach weddings. I'm just trying to get a grip on what you are talking about. That just doesn't sound possible unless you are doing several a day every day.

Yes, your math is not far off. The company does between 2 and 5 weddings per day, 7 days per week... and has been that busy for at least the past 5-6 years. It was a bit slower when I started with them 14 years ago, but nowadays it is rare that I ever have a day off (and that's the way I like it).
