Great images....I am going to Maui in January and I hope to get some great shots like yours.
Go see Jaws on Maui. Take at least 300mm f/2.8 with 2xTC lens, or if you can rent (if you don't have one. I don't, it's too expensive) 600mm f/4 lens. It doesn't have to be the newest, latest, greatest. I only had Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 so I used it with 2xTC but that will always degrade the image quality....
Also, go and explore some gardens. Even in January lots of trees/flowers are blooming there. Oahu has this Koko Crater Botanical Garden with tons of Plumeria trees, a paradise for macro photography (if you like this sort of photography). I was there for an hour (it rained on and off like 5 times within that time) and shot this image.... Maui has them too, half of island is essentially a jungle so you can find some amazing macro photography spots.
Have fun.
Nice work on these Gregg! You have assembled a nice collection of work for sure, and the variety of subjects and locations is nice as well. Having spent a fair amount of time on the islands, I know how challenging it can be.
The first image really stands out to me, as does the last. The Pala cliffs are well captured as well! The sense of scale is there for sure.
Small note: image 4 has a few sensors spots you might take a look at before a gallery print.
Super images, Gregg. I like the first and last - but I'm . a sucker for a beach + palm trees sunsets.
I was there for a week at the beginning of Nov (Big Island) and I found out that your typical tropical sunsets are not a given. I only got one decent sunset. Looks like you got some really nice sky there!
Well done!

mele kalikimaka!
I wish I could explore Hana more, but that's a sunrise location. All common hotels are far from Hana on the western side of the island (good for sunset). But Hana now has a few small hotels too so I may explore the place. I've been to Big Island before but haven't photographed it much. Go to Maui or Kauai. Both are awesome for beach + play trees sunset/sunrise.
How about Maldives? That's far away (Indian Ocean) but the place has lots to offer when it comes to beaches/palm trees.
Ah the Maldives - on my bucket list
My son-in-law is from the Maldives - yes I should go before they are under water
There are about a thousand islands there I understand - got a recommendation?
