I don't understand why ANYONE would ever buy this lens. It's huge and heavy.
Having said that, I bought one that got delivered yesterday ...
Planning to give it some quality time over the next few weeks to see what the hype is all about
I am waiting to see images of your GF, Anil! No, not while she is carrying the lens for you but taken with this lens.
Love the output from this lens but I keep buying and selling it. I have owned it on all three major mounts and recently bought it again on Sony as I missed the amazing rendering. Hoping to keep it longer this time.
Has anybody found a good quality lens hood for it? The included food get the job done but it is huge and when not in use, it makes keeping the lens in the bag even more difficult as it makes the lens thicker.
Signed the wife up for multiple lens testing sessions ... so far I love the IQ and the AF speed on a1 is very good
@AGeoJO - gf is now wife and in her bag, she's carrying my Nikon zfc and 24-70 f/2.8 S lens .. ha ha

That’s great - I am happy for both of you! And the resulting images look great, too, Anil!
Another image taken with this beast - although I used a tripod on this one but my fat finger nudged the ISO to 50 from ISO 100, resulting in a slow shutter speed, slower than what I would like to be at. This particular image is sharp but a few during that session showed some movement of the model at high maganification due to the slowish shutter speed. Fortunately, I took plenty images and that still saved the day or the evening rather…
However is there any reason to own both the 105/1.4 and the 85/1.2?
I would imagine it’s possible to get the same kind of shot with either lens.
I’m kinda holding out for Sony to make an 85/1.2, or for sigma to make a “DN” version of the 105/1.4
As for your question, I have not used this lens in particular but for other EF glass I have not had much luck getting good autofocus speed out of the mc-11 comparable to a 6D.

Hi Folks,
I got this lens around Oct 2018 and sold it in 2020 after I realized I'm no longer using it (after my Canon RF 85/1.2 and 85/1.2DS acquisition )
Long story short - I decided to re-purchase it while it's still available. Amazon UK sells them for ~$1255 (import fee included), and I couldn't just pass this deal.
My question to those who tried this lens on a Sony body - is there any AF performance difference between the native(-ish?) E-mount version and the EF mount version via the MC-11 adapter? I shoot both the R5 and A1 and I think it would be wise to buy the EF version, but I'm still wondering if I will be loosing some AF speed/precision going the adapted route.
A few old shots form this great lens. Taken with the EOS R. ...Show more →
I love this lens when I use it but the weight really stops me from using it much. I'm planning on using it in the next few weeks but I don't think I've used it since this shot in September of 23.
