I love the 40 1.2 so much, but I am kind worried it will get fogged (happened to my CV40 2.8 even in a dry cabinet.)
I only bring this lens with the 21 1.8 for all my travelling needs (samyang 85 1.4 if I am with someone)
Low light, flexibility etc, I can do almost anything with it.
Just want to own a spare but not exactly the same lens (excuses excuses, I know). I kinda miss the 50mm focal length too since I only have a mikaton 50 .95 which isn't very practical.
So the APO is intriguing, I can live with the f2 but I just ain't sure yet.
Plus I do quite a bit of post processing, I ain't sure how much optical advantage I can see

You'd definitely see a difference between the 50/1.2 and the 50/2 APO. I very recently got the 110/2.5 and while its optical greatness doesn't stand out as much as with higher resolution cameras, I can still see improvements over the Sigma 135/1.8 - which is a benchmark lens by itself.

How about the Marumi close-up filters +3 and/or +5
I will do a comparison soon. However at 50mm, I think that extension tubes are preferred. Only a 10mm extension matches the mag. of the Marumi 3+ and the higher the diopter strength, the more IQ degradation, especially off-axis.
Some say you can see images from the good lenses being better in the EVF/LCD. Yes, that happened to me at shooting time, but you are never really sure until it lights up on the work monitor. Reviewing over 500 images, I seem to be drawn to the bokeh first. The f2.8 performance effectively gives you two wide open apertures, if that makes sense. And f2 is very strong already. Smaller f-stops merely stretch out the goodness to cover more of the composition.

Merci beaucoup !
For my purpose the +3 will be enough, and I like this option much better as you do not have to take off the lens. So "on the road" this is a much faster solution and without risk of dust on the sensor.

Y’all are killing me. I don’t need another lens, especially a 50mm manual focus lens! Ugh!

Not sure if this lens is that different to the 50/1.2 (floating elements?) but assuming it behaves similarily, it will work better with the Marumi than with extension rings. Results with a 10mm extension tube were consistently worse (distortion, off-center resolution + contrast) than with the +3 Marumi. But I'd avise you to choose it bigger than necessary so that corner performance stays better.

I tried a Marumi +3 close-up filter on my Loxia 50mm...
Distance minimale from sensor 27cm,
Gives an image dimension of 12x8 cm
Distance maximale from sensor about 41cm, for an image dimension of 22,5 x 15cm

Agree totally. Those were the first shots I've seen that REALLY hooked me. They look "juicy".
Not as smooth as lenses like the Sigma 45/2.8C or CV 40-50mm f/1.2 at close/mid distance but the CV 50/2 APO's rendering is pleasant and neutral to my eyes. (Never harsh)
