Got this lens a few days ago the exif data when imported into capture one shows as Loxia, is that a capture one issue? Or is it expected and I should Just get an exif data editing tool and change it before importing.

That is a bit weird. CV lenses usually have good EXIF (though I compulsively edit lens names anyway to keep the conventions consistent. Also I hate that in EXIF but not elsewhere Cosina spell Voigtländer as Voigtlander. I know that's a bit nutty, but even to my limited German understanding eyes, the reads and sounds in my head as a different spelling and of course pronunciation, not a "mere" accent.)
But back to your question: Are you using C1? Someone else using C1 had the same thing happen. I'm guessing that C1 is not reading the lens name field in EXIF but is guessing the lens from other EXIF data. Could be wrong. If that is right, then editing the lens name field may not help, because C1 is ignoring it, you'll just have to wait for a C1 update that knows about the App-Lanthar 50.

Exif Data
Picture can store the Exif data of lens.
(For example, if you use Voigtländer 50mm F2 E-mount)
Lens
Focal length Maximum Aperture Aperture
Voigtlander APO-LANTHAR 50mm F2 Aspherical
* Description may be changed depending
on camera's firmware version or other
factors.
50mm
F2
The aperture value you used to take the picture
* Some camera bodies can not transmit data correctly.
Here is a post showing some pictures made with the a7riv and the Voigtlander apo 50mm, the text is in Japanese but you can have it translated in your browser https://news.mapcamera.com/KASYAPA.php?itemid=32796
I just recently upgraded to capture one 20. Ill check if the issue is there with the older version of capture one as well.
As for camera body I am using A7M3 on the latest firmware so I would hope it’s not a camera body exif data transmission issue.
Just to double check is any one else seeing the same issue with c1 and lens combo, and not when used with adobe. My worry is it should not be something to do with the lens.

Although I've tried to follow this thread, the few photos that I recall at apertures other than 2, 2.8 and 8 seem to have emphasized bokeh balls rather than more typical scenes with somewhat complex backgrounds. (Here I'm thinking of the sort of examples that Fred posted in his review of the Sigma 45/2.8.) If I've missed them, could someone please direct me to such samples that might indicate how the unusual aperture shape affects images at middling apertures? Thanks.
I am wondering the same thing. I am interested in finding out how the new CV 50/2 APO renders complex backgrounds at F4 and F5.6 (i.e. street scenes).
That’s a relief thanks for the responses everyone. Was worried there for a bit as I didn’t know when I would have gotten a replacement if it was a lens issue. 😅
50/2 AL images have an effortless, near-medium format look, as part of their appeal. We never saw much of that from the 65/2 because most understandably used it as a macro.
For those interested, Peter Karbe was telling Hugh Brownstone that 80% contrast at 40 lpmm equates to 50% contrast for 60 lpmm (not a typo). The first lens Leica made at this level was the 50/2 M APO and this was the benchmark for the SL APO lenses that Leica made specifically for future high Mp cameras. This APO-Lanthar is a little stronger than the M lens, from Cosina's MTF.
Leica has also used a platform concept for the SL range, with common design elements for several lenses, something Cosina could consider for forthcoming APO-Lanthars, if they go that way. Karbe is of the view that the SL 35/2 is the 'best lens ever made, I think' because they had more space to work with, inside the common SL barrel size. Hard to argue with him on that claim. It's also f2.
