p.2 #1 · Who Pays for Insurance?

Tony, You are not alone with shipping fiascos!!!! Holidays should factor in to any s&h problems problems. It is a given that there will be a slowness in arrival anywhere.

USPS is the worst IMHO. Most USPS shipments, in my experiences, are sent to a "sorting facility" first, bundled with same 3 digit zip codes, say "191xx", then shipped. It is just one of the many frustrations one encounters moving items here.

I agree with your consensus on the problem.

By contrast, I've had nothing but good results with USPS as a shipper, and only occasionally had minor issues as a recipient.

Fedex Home, on the other hand, seems like they always fake the first delivery attempt.

p.2 #3 · Who Pays for Insurance?

i reckon it's a tossup amongst which carriers to choose. My son paid for a FedEx Ground, not Home, Delivery. Because of where he lives he has 24/7 audio and video surveillance each recording on which is initiated by motion of a certain speed and body size. His item got delivered by FedEx Home delivery as announced on the EXCEPTION notice he received via email update from FedEx. It of course included a date and time upon which delivery was attempted.

My son, an IT wizard at major University down South (known for its basketball prowess), dutifully scrolled through the recordings for the specific time frame recorded on the EXCEPTION notice from FedEX. To be fair he selected 15' on either side of that stated time. Right. Not a delivery vehicle in sight. Anticipating bullshit from FedEx, he scrolled to 30' on either side of time. Hmmm. Nobody showed. He called FedEx who responded by 'You must be mistaken." "Well, not according to the audio and video recordings I have, he replied." He went on further to say that unless he had the package in hand by the next day, he would post the video on YT, Instagram and Facebook along with relevant documentation. He had his package by end of that day. (Parenthetically, his surveillance system comports with all relevant case law in his jurisdiction). Sometimes ya get a warm feeling from being not only right but REALLY RIGHT.

I believe at one time or another we have all, well some of us, been frustrated by any shipper. It is the nature of the "beast".
Hopefully the exception not becomes the rule!!
