What types of image would require 1/40,000th of a second shutter speed and not already involve a strobe with that sort of short duration? I am not suggesting the need doesn't exist, I just don't know what it is and I am a curious type.
In my lab we have a high speed camera with 16.000 images/s and micro-second recording time ;-). Different beast, though.

Fuji's are ISO200, isn't it. On Sony I would assume there is ISO50 option. If not there is ND filter option. Electronic shutter have their own issues. Maybe Sony can release new firmware. I don't know. Fuji releases updates quite frequently.

Noct 58 f0.95 in bright sun even at ISO 100 would require ~2^8x the shutter speed based on sunny f/16, so 1/25600 and f/1.4 1/12800. Polarizer will cut that by between 1.3-2 stops.
