My experience so far has been great as well. I have been mostly shooting my 9 month son indoors and it is fantastic with my a7r4. It is significantly faster at AF compared to my 85mm gm.
I have had thoughts of just calling it a day Sigma 14-24 coming tomorrow and add this 24-70 along with my Sony 135. That's all for work but Guys pleasure boat is a CV 21 f3.5 and the new 50 Apo. I have been pumping the iron for well over 40 years I want to wind down. Lol
Oh Heck Yeah!! Got this lens a week ago and am amazed by its performance and sharpness.
Well shoot, not so fast Ron on the oh heck yeah. Still no love in my PS CC 2018 .... but it seems sooo close. Just no cigar yet. Please see screen capture from inside Lens Correction filter. Lower left. It automatically is recognizing both the A7r III and the 24-70 2.8 DG DN Art lens. But the preview button down there is not active or changing anything as it usually does. And in the drop down menu on the right column only the Sigmas 2.8 IF EX DG_HSM and the 2.8 EX DG Macro are in there.
As well on the right column with the 3 boxes to mark for correction, Geometric Distortion is checked. Chromatic Aberration is not. And Vinette is checked. But all 3 are grayed out and not active to check or uncheck.
Please, what do I need to do next, Mike. Sorry to be such a pain in getting this correction to work in my Mac software .... so far.
Welp I don't seem to have any way to upload the screen capture from my computer?
I’m still liking mine. I think I was one of the few to receive the first shipment in December. I’ve been a prime guy for several years but this lens is so easy to leave on my camera.
Just got mine and tested it, looks reasonably well centered on 24mp (not sure if 61mp would expose it though!). Also updated Lightroom Classic and there is a profile for this lens now. Good times!

Where you folks finding this lens
I pre-ordered mine in November when it was first available for pre-order. Received first week of December. Looks like it's in stock at Adorama, where i placed my order. Ordered from them as they were still NOT charging sales sales for California orders at the time. Now, they do.
With that being said, looks like Allen's Camera down in PA also has this lens in stock. And, they do not charge sales tax for out of state orders last time I checked (earlier today).

As I posted about here, I haven't had luck getting a well-centered copy for E-mount yet (2 copies tried) but the first copy of the L-Mount I purchased is about perfect. Here is a full aperture/focal length series from the lens @ infinity from my Panasonic S1R. Default LR import with highlights -100, shadows +100, sharpening 45/0.7/35:
I guess I got lucky I picked up 2 of them both well centered! I ended up returning one as I won't be using it and the other one is still sitting in its box waiting for my friend to pay for it lol

For those with this lens, is it safe to say that this has the best image quality available for a midrange zoom on Sony? And no issues with AF performance? Any reasons to get one of the Sonys if you're optimizing for image quality?
I have a full range of primes from 18mm to 135mm but there are times where I badly want a zoom where it's inconvenient to change lenses so thinking about buying one again.
My take away from photos I took is that they are generally similar in sharpness, at least on my A7III (but I seem to get more often better focused pictures on the long end on the Sigma).
I'd say that Sigma seems to provide a more pleasant picture, but that is hard to quantify and maybe only an impression. I think it mostly comes down to 24mm/28mm vs size/weight arguments.
I've tested both lenses on A7r3 and the difference is huge in my opinion (The Tamron is a lot sharper than the Sigma). I'll replace my copy of the Sigma and I'll try another one. If situation will be the same, then I'll stick with the Tamron.

I didn't notice a lot of sharpness difference between my Tamron (sold) and my Sigma. The Tamron might have been a hair sharper (negligible really) but it was also a lot more clinical and didn't have the character of the Sigma or the ease/quality of use. It probably won't hurt trying another copy of the Sigma.
