Looks like it's pretty hard to get a copy of this lens. Adorama has no ETA of when they get any in stock and B&H says Feb 4ish. Damn sigma common already!
After having such high desire for the Sigma 24-70, this is the only lens I ever preordered. Just received from Adorama this afternoon. No scientific testing, but initially shooting the resolution charts nearer to mfd, I'd say this copy is definitely a keeper for me. Had the Tamron 28-75 before, but sold in favor of my primes. The corners wide open on the Sigma at 24 seem better than the corners from my copy of the Tamron at 28. Centers on both lenses are pretty much splitting hairs. I care most about performance between 28 and 70 since the Loxia 21 is my wide of choice. Thus far I am happy with this Sigma and can't wait for a lens profile in Capture One to see how it corrects the barrel distortion and hopefully some of the purple and green fringing.
My preorder shipped but I知 going to stick with primes so if anyone wants it PM me otherwise I知 going to refuse shipment and send it back. It痴 currently still on back order every where
I know where to get one right now (they have a few in stock actually) but I've been shooting prime lenses for the last 2 years, it would be nice to have as a walk-around though .... decisions
I assume the native FE Sigma has a lens profile stored. Can anybody try id it works in Capture One - try "Manufacturer Profile". For the 14-24 it works...

I'm still trying to decide if this is a worthy upgrade over the Tamron. My biggest complaint of the Tamron is the nervous bokeh in close up shots.
Very same here. Also not sure. I guess i just buy Sigma and if i personally don't see significant improvements I just return it.
I picked one up yesterday, it's not as sharp as some prime lenses I have but then again I'm spoiled when it comes to sharp primes lol. I'd say the sharpness is on par with my Sony 85 1.8.
I haven't tried at mfd yet but I'll give it a try soon to see. And I don't use C1 anymore but LR didn't have the profile for that exact model it seems. I've only tried the Tamron at WPPI so I couldn't really compare them.
I'm looking at this lens for events, and concerts in particular. How is the autofocus in low light? I rented the 24-70 GM for one event and that seemed very good. I'd love to only have to spend half the money though.
Sadly,Sigma will never be as good as native Sony for AF. Especially in low light. I知 in your boat too,had the Sony & it was great.

Have been waiting for this lens for a long time.....too long that I bought the 24-105. Still love my older version of Sony Zeiss 24-70 f2.8 ZA ..but the adapted lens isn't that convenient. Will wait for you guys telling me this Sigma is a good buy

At present using an adapted Sony Alpha Zeiss 24-70 F2.8 too. Did not fall in love with Sony GM 24-70 lens ... this new Sigma makes me curious... especially seem to render cool at 2.8 and 70mm...
Mine finally arrived (thanks @sye46 for the hook up). Looking good so far. Quite a bit of barrel distortion at the wide end. Working on creating a Lightroom profile now, which I'll share shortly. (this almost guarantees that Adobe will release one in the next few days. )
That would be amazing. It痴 one of the only drawbacks I知 finding to using this in the wild is attempting to manually correct - and not feeling like I知 getting all the way there.
