The first day I found this bird (after reading e-bird reports of where it was), I had a most enjoyable day observing it for 2 hours in which time I counted it eat 10 invasive American Bullfrogs Went back the next day to show Colin F and we watched it catch another bunch of these frogs...crazy!!
I was also very impressed at how camouflaged it could become once it left the water's edge....sometimes I'd know where it was and then lose sight of it and take a min to relocate it even though it hadn't moved. So I included a few images showing it amongst the natural grass.
Awesome shots! I see them on occasion at the wildlife refuge where I volunteer, always in disguise...but I've never seen them hunt like this, they usually fly away!
