The Alpe di Siusi is a high alpine meadow in the Italian Dolomites. It is accessed by a Gondola from the center of the town of Ortisei in the Val Gardena, Italy. It is a wonderful ride up, with amazing views. Once at the top, you are presented with a huge meadow, with Dolomite peaks in the background. You can hike along a series of trails, offering many photographic opportunities.
The Rifugios are small wooden huts meant to supply shelter in bad weather. They are scattered throughout the area, and some are available to rent to hikers.
I found the one in the image along one of these trails. It was late afternoon, and we were blessed with rapidly moving scattered clouds. This provided dappled light that moved across the landscape. I set up my tripod in order to capture the light as it highlighted different areas of the image with a plan to blend them to create ideal lighting on areas of interest. I will still do that when I get home and have time. This is a single image, that alone does very much what I was after. Very lucky again on this trip. It is a simple, and minimal LR only edit.
