No big story about how I trekked to some exotic location to capture this mornings sunrise. I am staying in a wonderful hotel, the Rosapetra in Cortina d' Amprezzo. I wok up a little late this morning, looked out the window, and saw an incredible sunrise developing. No time to go someplace, so I just went out on the balcony. The balcony wraps around giving me a 270 degree view. Since we are surrounded some of the impressive peaks there was plenty of good photographs to be made.
So, here is one of the peaks shot from my room. We had some fresh snow up high that frosted the peaks nicely, and some great color and atmospherics. Enjoy!

That's a hell of a view! Really nice image. Impressive that you were able to come away with such a good composition from your balcony.
Dave, thanks for the nice words, glad you enjoyed the image. Yes, my Wife has a knack for picking hotels. I did have to shoot though some buildings and wires, and move around the porch a bit. The composition was very much influenced by what I needed to leave out. Luckily it is a large porch to work with.

Splendid. Sometimes the best opportunities are right under our nose.
Thanks for the kind words Rajan. Yep, just need to get better at seeing them. I almost missed this one.

That's a wonderful view to wake up to. love it
I feel very lucky to be able to experience these places. I am glad you liked the image Sunny.
Thanks, Yes, I can recommend that hotel. Our room #7 seems to have the largest balcony with the best views in case anyone is traveling to the Dolomites. Very lucky to have such conditions.

man, that's a beauty.....your room paid for itself with that shot
Glad you liked it. Not sure about the pay part. As usual when traveling with my Wife, she picks the hotels, and I am not allowed to see the price of anything on the trip. It is probably better that way....

There are some other shots posted in the Sony forum under thee 24-105 lens subject. I will also post more in the Landscape forum. It has been a productive trip so far. Very lucky.
Thanks, glad you liked the image. I arrived in Lake Bled this evening. The drive in was incredible. You have an absolutely gorgeous country. I got some shots from the balcony in my hotel here (The Grand Hotel Toplice) before the rain started. Great views here as well. Maybe I should just call this the balcony photography tour. !

A vary nice image indeed. Was there anything at the bottom to compose the mountain with?
Thanks Gregg. The reason it is cropped to 16 X 9 is that I had to shoot over a road and buildings. The bottom of the image had a number of unattractive distractions.

The clouds add so much to this scene!
Very nice!

Thanks Greg. I agree, without all the atmospherics this image would not be what it is. I was sure lucky in that respect. Nature painted, I just captured a moment in time.
I wish you good light and looking fwd to see what you capture...
cheers,A.
