To photograph some wildlife cheaply I went 5 days tenting in the Dovrefjell area looking for muskoxen, for only the price of train tickets. Here are some of the results:

Morten, those are really superb images of muskoxens, ranging from closeup, to environmental, to some fighting, to resting, etc. and the last 2 images are also gorgeous. The framing and colors of that little bird are outstanding. Did you use only the A9 or some were taken with the A7r III? By the look of the images, you mostly used the GM400mm, right? And you got my vote, Morten!

Thanks Joshua and this time I mostly used the A7RIII as these guys usually don't move fast. And they are mostly taken with the 400GM with a converter yes, except for a couple shots with the 100-400.

Morten, you made my day. These are fabulous and are pushing me towards switching to Sony. How much hiking did you have to do daily and how was the weather?

Thanks that is very kind. I had a trip earlier this year where I ended up hiking with 30kg for 4 out of 5 days and got almost no images because I went back and forth over a mountain looking for a place with arctic fox, so this time I minimized it and focused solely on muskox. This time I established camp on a small mountain about 5km from the train station where I had overview over an large area with 3 separate groups of muskoxen. Each day I hiked from 200m to maybe 1-2km at most to the musk oxen in both the morning and evening.
People with a car could easily drive between the places and also visit a moose spot in the area, but then they would most likely have to hike longer to find the muskoxen each day unless they come close to the road.
The weather was mostly clear but was lucky with fog and frost on a couple of the mornings which makes a gorgeous atmosphere in my opinion.

Another great batch of images! Nice variety with different lighting situations. They all look superb.
These rival the polar bear images you posted a few months ago.
