Hi All of you Fujifilm Fashion Fanatics and just normal folk…
As promised, here is a sample, (more to come), of my 17 page Special Haute Couture shoot for the October issue of ELLE magazine.
This was shot with the Fujifilm GFX50s and three lenses. The 45, 62 and one image only with the 110.

Hi Benjikan,
Am curious how the creative/stylistic decision was made to leave the eyes mostly in deep shadows? Really interesting approach. but wonder if there is a message in that?

Let me take a guess.
In fashion photography, the emphasis is on the fashions, rather than the model. In portraits we want that clear view of the face with sharp focus on the eyes, complete with catchlights. Clothes are more important with fashion photography.

Ben, I can't say that I like the compressed dynamic range of this series. Such a large sensor should produce smooth gradients in transitions from highlights to mid-tones to shadow - something I love in single light source photos. These are reminiscent of the limitations of film. It also appears that a single light is used in many of the series images on your web site. (perhaps a light was used on some of the backgrounds) Personally, I think a reflector would have added more detail to the clothes and the model, but that is merely my subjective opinion. If the client is happy that is all that matters. Keep on shooting!
