p.1 #1 · Fall Shots - First Winter Storm Really - Grizzly - Kananaskis
Today, I returned to Kananaskis to get fall shots with snow in the coloured leaves. But the visibility was zero, with a blizzard, at Wedge Pond.
So I drove up the Highwood pass, and as I almost got to the top, I saw 3 big animals coming down the road. At first I wondered whether some cows had got loose, but then I realized it was moms grizzly and her cubs. Obviously she was bringing them down from the past to look for food away from the snow.
She insisted on walking on the road for about 5-8 km. And so I followed to fish my lights in case a car came but no cars came. It was just me escorting the grizzly.
Here are my best shots from a very wintery fall trip.

Terrific Scott. 1, 2, 4 and 8 are my picks. It was wise of you to escort the bears. I wonder if they realized what you were doing? Besides the nobel act, I bet it provided some great photo opportunities and you go to spend time alone with the family of bears which had to be special.

hnilsson: Yes snow means lots of false or no focus try. Glad you like my snow bears. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
morris: Glad you like 1,2,4,8. No they did not know what I was doing. I went to pass at the end to get a better shooting spot and one of the little ones kept running and so I fell back to not scare them. But it sure was fun to watch some bear behaviour. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
BTW - we do have a least a week of fall. Here is my fall attempts from last week and this week on the grizzly trip.

Bobg657: It was a great morning. Pictures were marginal with the snow but sometimes its more about the experience. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
KCollett: Parks Alberta used to put small non obtrusive radio transceivers on but they have obviously decided research is more important than aesthetics. I debated removing the id tags with photoshop but did not think the pictures were of such hang on the wall quality to warrant it. Glad you like the set. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

kdacharya: Glad you like the environment. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
surfnron: Glad you like them. I agree - luck comes to those who continously go out (and who know where to go out to) even when the weather does not look promising. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

canadajim: Soon mom will be looking for a place to hibernate if it does not warm up for them. But as you know it still a month early. But she determined and knew where she was going so maybe she was heading for hibernation. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
Warkari: Glad you like the snow bears. This weekend is likely to be the last colour of the year and looking out the window - my larch trees have not totally changed and there is still half the leaves on my leafy trees. So I am glad you like my fall landscape because I am heading for Rome with my beloved and will miss the weekend (sigh ). Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
psharvic: Glad you like the story and the fall landscapes. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
