KD, beautiful photos. I was there about 10 yrs ago with a small group, went to Guango, to a lodge run by a white family. The density of the birds was not so great. Where did you go?
One very, very minor nitpick. Some of the shots have more than one highlight in the eyes, which is a dead give-away of the strobe setup. You might want to clone these out.

Another beautiful set! You must be making plans to return to Ecuador ASAP. A photographer could get addicted to a place with such incredible subjects.
thanks Dallvr, and yes I have been thinking about going back but I'll probably wait for some time and visit other places before I go back to Ecuador.

Super set. Incredible variety. Would love to get to Ecuador myself sometime.
thanks Tim. Ecuador is an amazing place. I fell in love with it right away, but I am a Gemini so I fall in love very easily
maybe we can go together if you do decide to go

Great stuff otherwise. Truly a paradise to visit.
Pradeep
Thanks Pradeep, these were with Luis, and his family has lodges all over Ecuador. we were in Quito, high cloud mountains in the Andes, low cloud mountain, in the rain forests, and in other lodges in the Amazon. They are building a lodge in a lake in the Amazon, which will be completed by 2020 end. Regarding the eyes, some are shot with multiflash hence the multiple catchlight/flash highlight. I'll try to clone it out. Thanks.
Thanks KD. I was in Quito and also in the cloud forest area just past Papallacta, stayed at the Guango Lodge. It was a workshop run by Linda Robbins (now Mazurek). This was in 2009. Have not done anything with Hummingbirds since then. There are so many places to go and so little time

Such a varied set! So many types of beautiful hummers, but those swordbills have got my picks by far - what a cool and unique bird.
Nicely done, KD.
Jeff
thanks so much Jeff. The swordbills were probably the most difficult HBs to shoot since they were very skittish and also getting them lined up in the frame was a challenge
