Dan you are a generous man! Thanks so much.
Cold your way? Bone cold here this a.m.
I went out to feed the hawks and they practically took the chicken out of my hands.
I'm staying in the city this week since it is my work week. We've been moving about 45 min's away
for the last 6+ months...I'll miss the hawks and all the little bierds that visit the backyard. Hoping I can
make more little friends at the new location.

Just doing some testing with this combination. I’m gaining more confidence with it.
Awesome shot of the juve.
I used to say if the house was burning I'd grab the a9+200600. But today if the house were on fire I think I'd
grab the Riv+100400 with a TC. It'd be a hard choice but I just think the Riv is more well rounded despite its
shortcomings.
We'd hope to visit Conowingo in a couple of weeks but with the PA gov's latest demand we wear masks inside our own homes I doubt by the time we'd leave for the dam we'd be allowed to cross state lines
Midweek it’s not too crowded and easy to keep 6’ distance outside. I would stay away on weekends for now. Next year should be better.
As far as the camera and lens choice I have the same as you, but wanted to try the R4 and 200-600. I did short bursts, mostly tracking zone or flexible spot, auto ISO. The tracking on the Ar4 is excellent.

The cold really arrived yesterday! Will be here until tomorrow where it will return to the 60's.
I love the cold! Snow? No way! But now that I am retired, someone else has to drive to work in it!
I am sorry your relocation can't be relayed to your feathered friends. I am sure new one's will "get the word".
"Hog" on my brother!
Dan
Laslo thanks. At this point we're still undecided as to whether we'll venture up. I do plan on using the Riv+200600. I shot Buffleheads yesterday here in the front yard with the a9+200600 and they were just too far away for the a9's cropping ability.
Dan I'm just under 280 days until retirement, but working week on week off it's kinda like I've been retired every other week for years We've used those off weeks for the last 7 months getting the retirement home ready=complete kitchen remodel, bathroom remodel, new PEX plumbing system install throughout, new Rinnai whole house instant hot water heater. Just stucco'd a 20 feet wall over the last two days since we had a warm spell.
For critters, my current goal is a Red Breasted Nuthatch. I've shot 'em but not good enough yet. Light is a challenge up here/boreal rain forest, but I'm stay patient and keep working them
As much as I love the a9+200600 the A7Riv+100400GM has become my favorite....just weight that doesn't hurt ha! I can still manage the a9 and the bigger zoom, but when that time comes (wheelchair, walker, Depends) I'll side with the lesser zoom and the Riv.
Since relocating high up in the mountains light has become even more a challenge. Employing the
Canon 200/2.8 at F3.5 certainly helped a bit on this particular morning.
Happily though at this altitude we not only have the White Breasted but also the Red Breasted Nuthatch. This my first Red ever

I am not that great of a portrait photographer, but man, this a7r4 really helps. The resolution, malleability of the files and the eye AF can make anyone better.
