The fact that we have no facts should not be an inhibition.
Actually if we had all the facts that would ruin the fun.

I am guessing the MSRP for the A9 II to be $4,500 .
My guess is $4999.99.
The reason that is my guess is that I will pay that much and not a penny more. Somehow Sony knows that and will price the A9II to get the most from me they can.
Like SAR, I rank my guesses from 0-5. 0 means I have no clue. 5 is a dead certainty.
I rank this guess as 4.99999
Seems a safe bet that it will have:
- 36mp stacked sensor
- 20 fps
- gimped video functions
- same design as A7r4
- twin SD cards
- high res EVF
In terms of other surprise features:
- even better AF than the current A9
- improved noise at high ISO, potentially through some super fast image stacking process
- overhauled wireless
- better touch screen
- some fancy way to deal with banding caused by the electronic shutter, or else a better mechanical shutter.
- lossless compression for RAW
- video log profiles
Things we definitely won't see:
- 48mp sensor
- global shutter
- 8k
- improved menu
- different mount

I would add to the surprise features 150mp pixel shift mode with in camera processing including moving artifacts. Does it seem too good?

I will stand, beyond hope, in anticipation of a 48mp IMX311AQK sensor and revamped touch menus.
Lower res than the previous generation r-series seems unbecoming of a flagship.
As far as I know, the D5 has a lower rez sensor than for example the first D800. And if the D6 rumors are true (24 mpx), the next Nikon flagship will have still less mpx than their old high res body.
I don't see why a new sport/wildlife oriented flagship should have more mpx than the previous generation of the r-series. If they can increase the number of Mpx, they will do it, but never at the expense of af accuracy and speed, fps, buffer, etc...
If they want to maintain a usable e-shutter (1/160 readout speed at least), it seems hard to believe that they will jump to a very high resolution sensor.
I am thinking 4500.00 release around Christmas. In the mean time can we get our promised A9 version one 6.0 firmware? It will be like having an A9 1.5.

US price! In other countries you pay up to 25% more on the base price (without tax).

At least Sony made mention of FW 6.0 during the A6600 presentation so they haven't forgotten about it. They said September, before they said Summer. If they keep both promises then it has to release before Sept 23rd when Autumn starts.
Not sure if it will be a whole new camera with just two features being added but I'm excited to try Animal Eye-AF which everyone else has had for months. I really hope the long delay for FW 6.0 means there are some improvements to Animal Eye-AF and really wishful thinking is that they add the red/white focus points as a "Thanks for being patient bonus"

Over $6000 Cdn for a camera body....🤢
Screw that! lol
This is the point where my “upgrades” are older models.
It is expensive but if we consider that the A9 was designed to compete with the Nikon D5 and Canon 1DXII then it starts to look like a relative bargain.
D5 was $8,500 (now $7,800 nearing its replacement)
1DXII was $7,999 (now $7,429 nearing replacement), if you are CPS the price was/is $6,800.
Considering the A9 is as good or even better than those two cameras, it is a good deal in comparison.

Hi Geoff,
Wasn't $4500 US the original price of the A9? So, if Sony brought the A9II in for that same price that would not be surprising at all.
