Geoff, to say that those images are impressive is an understatement. And you are definitely not short in shooting opportunities there in your neck of the wood and the variety is simply amazing, too. I am officially envious !
I saw this a few times during the day....owl would dive down at another owl that was down in the grass. As it came up from swooping at the owl it would do a down clap with its wings and produce a sound. I guess as another warning to the owl on the ground that it doesn't approve of it being there?
Joshua, that Hooded Merganser and Crayfish image is outstanding!! I saw the original post and can see it it a hundred times. TFP. Geoff, love your work. Just incredible. Merry Christmas to all on this forum.

Thank you very much, Andy! Did you see the image/sin the Nature and Wildlife forum? That one was taken in January of this year while this one was taken in late November of this year. The one there was taken with the A9 and the distance to the merganser was closer, with less cropping. The merganser was further out here; I used the A7r IV for more cropping ability and that came in handy. Just FYI.
Happy Holidays to everyone and more importantly, stay healthy!
Knocking around with the 2xTC today. Hadn't been loving the results....then I stopped down and poof! F11 was so good it even drew a snowy down from the great white.
Geoff @arbitrage, your last two sets of images taken with the A7r IV just rock. That camera delivers in gobs and you put that camera for sale ? Are you sure about that 😂 ?

If I were a betting man, I would bet that the next camera iteration in the A9-line will be introduced/announced first than the Canon RF 600mm lens. While prices of the new Sony lenses are high but Canon is definitely not shy in pricing their new RF lenses, especially their top of the line RF lenses. Time will tell in terms of the announcement.
Each succeeding version of Canon 600mm seems to be lighter by 2 lbs. If the RF 600mm is going to be around 5 lbs, it'll be a joy to hand hold.
