Here are few images of the tiny violet-throated Woodstar. I posted these images in the big Sony FE thread but I believe not here yet. I will be adding a landing sequence of that tiny hummer later on and post the set in the Nature and Wildlife forum.
I will be going on a trip in exactly 2 weeks. Alas, based on the shooting conditions, I won’t be taking this lens with me. I haven’t used this lens for several weeks and that’s unusual for me. But I will be back into the groove in the fall…and in the meantime, I still have plenty, I mean, plenty of images from the last 3 trips to Ecuador that I can post to keep the thread alive. I hope more folks would contribute additional images, too.
Here are 2 images of the same species but not the same bird from a different and far apart location as that of the previous image. The A1 wasn’t available yet on that particular trip... I noticed that quite a few images were not really quite sharp on the eye, although I still had plenty of keepers, luckily. The A7r IV used on that trip doesn’t have the Birds-Eye AF feature and I had to shoot at a fairly fast pace. Plus, the files show more noise in general, relative to those coming from the A1. The lighting conditions in Ecuador are relatively low and the need to have a fairly high shutter speed, resulting in generally high ISO setting.
I brought my A9 II with me but I didn’t feel like missing the opportunity here. I got only two images from the sequence. Looking back, I wished I had used the A1. Previously posted in the big FE thread…
A skittish bird that lives up in high cloud forests of Ecuador (and surrounding) - it hops on the forest floor in search of food, like grubs, worms, etc.
