Any hint from Sigma that the 45/2.8C was the first of a possible set?
Speculatively, the 45/2.8 seems to fit the Sigma DP2 camera equivalent focal length (and small size), and in the past they've released their wide and normal DP lens designs for other mounts (specifically the APS-C 19/2.8 and 30/2.8). The DP1 with the 19/2.8 is a 28mm equivalent lens, though I admit probably the worst of the DP lenses optically.

If I weren't careful I'd get this lens and an a7c to put it on.
The Sigma 45/2.8 is compact but it's interesting that the new Voigtlander 40mm f/1.2 "SE" version is about the same size for about 2 1/2 stops advantage!

Well, .25" longer, but quite a bit heavier. I have the standard 40/1.2 on my old a7rii, and it is a lens that lacks very little. But it would be nice to have a small, sharp AF lens with a lot of character on a small body.
Anyways, I'm just dreaming. I'm pretty satisfied with what I have: a7rii, 21/1.4, 40/1.2, 180/4 APO, Voigtlanders with a Nikon 105/2.5 tucked in. Also the 12-24 and 24-105 Sony zooms. Can't complain.
Anyone confirm this one way or another? I’m interested too but afc issues is a deal breaker
Edit - just skim read the entire thread and seems the answer is that it’s still an issue in AFC. I can’t be bothered dealing with that personally. Lens looks great otherwise

Is the AF-C accuracy still an issue with this lens?
I've been on the fence about this one for a while, but now that I have the a7c, it's really piqued my interest again.

Yes, not the same but similar in size. Here is a quick side by side:
For those considering the Sigma 45/2.8 as a small lens for the A7C, the Voigtlander could also be a consideration being similar in size and 2 1/2 stops faster. -- As long as AF is not a must.
At the presentation Nov. 2019, Mr. Yamaki said it is the first dg dn prime in the contemporary line. Indicatiing there will be more. And hopefully next week a 28 mm as second. Fred Miranda wrote:

So, what's a suitable (more compact) alternative hood for the Sigma 45?
No hood haha. I haven't found that mine flares much at all...though it is now winter here in Vancouver so sun is a rare phenomenon. But I did my informal testing in June and July and I didn't notice any issues.

Just go hood-less.
I'm not a believer in lens hood, especially when using MC modern lenses.
Thanks, Fred. I often use small hoods (or just some step-up rings) to provide a scootch of protection to the front of the lens. A cheap short hood like the one you cited should be fine for my purposes.
I asked the same question. Ended up skimming through all 41 pages and it seems they haven’t (possibly can’t). Bit of a shame as the rendering looks great. AFS seems to work but that won’t suit everyone , including me

Have not filtered through here in a while. Has Sigma addressed the early AF concerns with this lens?
I have an affection for Sigma that springs from their Foveon cameras. They seem to think out of the box and introduce products that approach technical perfection while at the same time engage in off the wall, fun endeavors.
