Tried it and it does exactly what it is supposed to do.

Wow. Thats an expensive set up for dairy aisle photos.

Yup. It’s gone with me almost everywhere for a few weeks now. Just the lens mounted on the a9 with either the spyder holster or a lightweight sling. My family is used to it. lol

The manufacturer's lens profile for the Sigma f1.2 when used in Capture One corrects very well for straight line distortion and also for vignetting.

Agreed that it appears to do exactly that. I suppose what I should have stated was that I've found that I prefer (on average) most of my shots to remain uncorrected.

Indeed it is. Good thing it's just one of the plethora of things I shoot as I shoot everything all the time.

The LR version largely does the same. As stated in reply to Bastian, I just prefer the uncorrected look to the corrected one for most of my shots when looking at them in post.

Somehow weird, but when looking trough the shots of the Sigma 35 f1.2, the rendering reminds me (despite the diffrenence in focal length) a lot of the Sony 55 f1.8ZA.

Therein lies the difference though. I don't work to get them to cooperate at all for what and how I shoot. In general, I have the rig with me but am not actively trying to shoot. If something catches my eye and I would have otherwise pulled my phone out of my pocket, then the rig comes up instead. With that mentality in mind, there really is no work needed since their cooperation is also not necessary.

About the only time cooperation is required on the part of my kids is when my wife wants a shot of them as such to mark some occasion. Otherwise, I hate taking those photos.

As a side note, since I have my rig with me a lot, there are days where I don't shoot anything at all and that's okay with me.

One problem I've noticed with the lens (only problem) is that it does have a tendency to hunt in single point autofocus, especially when the single point is off center. It doesn't detract from the stellar optical qualities and very good performance in continuous autofocus. It's an inconvenience/hassle that one needs to watch out for. This is using the lens on two different A7RIII bodies.

I have a lot of images I'm currently editing from this lens. Should have a bunch up from a wedding/family/senior session in a week or so.

Best 35 I've ever used by far

I always take the time to compose some shots for this 35 1.2 on my sessions, it adds this wide perspective I really like.
Having 1.2 for night shots was a blessing

Ohhh how I wish there were a way to disable those automatic profiles in LR.

Regardless, I think you are killing it with this lens - really suits your style.

On another note, I've now stress tested myself enough with the lens in carry situations (full day at amusement park, several mile walks in the evening, and general outings with the family) that I think I'll still be carrying it around more than not despite it not being small. The juice is worth the squeeze.

The oigate automatic profile only affects LaCA; why are you worried?

The LR profile, OTOH, can be disabled (and can be applied or not on import as you specify). That does over correct vignetting to my taste. But even if you have it on there are controls to adjust its strength.

Yeah. I've been turning it off after import as I just don't like what it does by default.

Thank you for the kind words. This thing just fits like a glove for my taste and the way I shoot.

It actually appears to apply a very heavy-handed vignette correction and as well as some distortion. Whatever the totality of the corrections are that's included, I prefer the look of completely uncorrected images for some reason.

Also, pardon my LR newb-ness. How do you turn it off by default on import? Didn't see it in the import settings or anywhere else in preferences. Running 8.4 classic. Would greatly appreciate not having to turn it off.

How are you turning it off? I have the Sigma 45/2.8 on loan, and it just shows "Profile Automatically Applied" or some such. Been a while since I've used a native lens, but I seem to remember you *couldn't* turn them off? Would love to control the corrections myself, and yes- I also like the imperfections sometimes and will usually leave them in.

Not sure how to have them automatically set to off on import as DavidBM mentioned. But after import, it is listed in the lens corrections section and you just have to uncheck the box.

I think David is talking about two different corrections:

1) Automatic lens profile: Some lenses like the Sigma 35/1.2 have an automated lens profile embedded in the RAW file. This cannot be turned off when using LR. It should not be a reason for much concern since it only corrects for lateral CA and therefore it's pretty much lossless.

2) LR's lens profile: Lightroom has custom lens profiles made for most native lenses. It will fix vignetting, distortion and CA. This can be turned off or be automatically added to our images when importing them into LR.

NOTE: This is also a checkmark option for correcting chromatic aberration (LaCA) in LR and this option should not be used if a lens profile is already embedded in the RAW file. It may double correct the image for LaCA and in some cases make things worse.
