Anyone else noticed sigma released a firmware update for the lens? I updated mine and it's working great like before. Update details:
● Improved the phenomenon that the focus does not work on rare occasions when the focus mode is set to AF-C (Continuous AF).
This may fix what someone here reported on the lens suddenly not working. Mine's never given me a problem expect one time when I forgot to set the camera in AF and wondered why it wasn't focusing This is an incredible 35 mm lens. My only gripe with it is the real bad prone to flare. Even to interior ceiling lights where you have to have a lens hood on. Gave me bad green ghosting in the lower part of the images for portraits when I used flash. Thought it was my flash causing problem until I put the lens hood on and it was fine then. Here is what I am talking about:
Still my absolute fav 35mm prime minus the flare so I am curious to see how the upcoming 35 1.4 GM lens will do to flare to add it for my landscape kit maybe in the future.

The update actually fixed an issue I was having that Sigma's service center in New York was apparently unable to replicate. With my A7R III and first firmware update (the first after the original shipping firmware), I was unable to lock focus using AF-C and shooting at 1.2 at most focus distances and instead the lens would pulse in and out of focus repeatedly. Strangely, it was perfectly fine as soon as I stopped down to f/1.4. I created a video of the phenomenon and sent it to their technician, but their A7R III body didn't perform the same. I ended up having them rollback to the original firmware. With this newest update, I took a chance and installed it and now it's working fine.
I still have an issue where shooting a flat target at apertures smaller than f/1.4, the lens doesn't consistently choose a focus distance where across the frame sharpness is best. Instead, it often chooses one where the center is sharp but much of the outer frame will be just off. If I focus manually I can get a flat plane of sharpness. I'm hoping a new Sony body will do better in the future or I might switch to the upcoming GM.

Do you upgrade the FW on the camera or do you need Sigma’s dock?
I think their dock is only for Canon-mount lenses, isn't it? Not the Sony E mount lenses, at least.
I think all of Sigma's Sony-mount lenses update through the camera. Sigma's website will have installation instructions for each firmware update which will specify.
