p.1 #1 · Can anyone show 35mm vs 40mm focal length side by side?
Looking for some sample shots comparing 35 vs 40mm that are use at say 20 ft from the lens equally, not the close up head shots type that don't show the comparison fairly but more show you the distortion to flattening of the face gradually
Thanks!

I have both focal lengths but no models to show how it effects facial compression.

Nikon 200-400 and Sig 14-24, D850 camera
When I had the Sony I used a Canon pancake 40 (below shot) on it but don't have both the 35 and 40 now
I'm going to get the new Sig 40 want to have no regrets, but may not miss the 35 range with the resolving power of the Sig and wonder if 35mm is really far enough away from the 24mm of the Sig

@PrecisionPhoto Loxia 35 & Voigtlander 40, about 15' and Infinity.
Learned something important too... You can see from the EXIF that the Z6 only registers the lens at power on. If you swap lenses, it doesn't re-register what lens is mounted...

Wonderful my brother, and what a treat for you to discover the quirk of the Z6
Thank you very much again!

That's interesting. I'm guessing it's unique to the FTZ and doesn't occur with native lenses.

Not even the FTZ it was the techart TZE, but yeah I agree it’s unique to the adapter.

I could but it may be more complicated than that. The Biogon C ZM 35/2.8 I have is more like a 38mm,while my VM 40/1.2 is more like a 42mm. The FOV is so similar in some cases, without EXIF and subtle differences in rendering at similar apertures it's almost impossible to distinguish.
p.1 #17 · Can anyone show 35mm vs 40mm focal length side by side?
There is a very simple way to accomplish this. Just use a 24-70mm zoom, take shots at 35mm and then at 40mm. I just don't think there is enough difference (5mm!) to even bother with.
p.1 #18 · Can anyone show 35mm vs 40mm focal length side by side?
Well, I have to disagree about those 5mm. As much as I love my Sigma Art 40mm f/1.4 there have been occasions in which I wished so much it could have been a 35mm...

Are your legs broke? step back 4 feet
There's NO 35 out there that has the resolving capability of the Sig 40

I've always tried to follow Nikon's recommendation and powered off the camera before swapping lenses, so it's a non issue for me.
