my wish is to create images that have a rich, moody, romantic, artistic appearance.

Nice images - I hope you don't mind some critique...
My main nit is that you pretty much "bulls-eyed" them all. IMHO they would all benefit from some cropping from top/left.
#2 the corner vignetting is a little strong IMO
Really good handling of the backlighting in #3 - My fave of the set. Nice how the sun is acting like a doggie hair light

Thanks for all of the lovely comments. Looking back at these images after a long time, i agree the first image is lacking some 'punch'.

Very nice job in fact. The dark dog, dark water and sky makes for a stunning image.
My only nit is the selection around the ears is obvious
