Was at the Badlands last week and shot my oldest daughter's senior portrait. Gone are the days of the neon lines going diagonally in the background of senior portraits !
I agree that both images are well done and very expressive. The sky really makes both images dramatic. The dress is 1 huge dress and I like it! It gives scale and depth to the composition. Of which, I would have never imagined!
I also agree with Andre about facial expression. While not a negative, I do think a smile would present her better IMHO!

Thanks for the compliment guys on the picture. She was very nervous so we didn't get any smiles unfortunately but they did come out good !
Thanks for the compliment. Super simple. It was just an AD200 in the cheap-o $30 GODOX soft box that folds up into the small carrying case, camera right(for the first pic and camera left for the 2nd one) firing at 1/2 and I exposed for the background.

Thank you! Appreciate your response and help in understanding the lighting used.

Wonderful, dramatic shots. I'm sure she loves them! My son is only 12 and he's already told me he wants his senior portraits shot in Banff.
These senior portraits are completely different than what I had when I was growing up for sure.
