Congratulations to Pius Sullivan for winning Feature Thread of the Week with 3 votes - View Previous Winners
Had the opportunity to photograph this magnificent owl in the wild, bringing home the voles.
These photos were taken after a 20 minute hail storm, you can see the hail shining through some of the background.
Hope you like them.
Comments welcome.
Gear used: Canon 1DX II + Canon 600mm III ---> HH
Wow, image #2 is outstanding, I wish the wing was not clipped. Image #16 is the winner in my humble opinion!
I dream about the day when I will see this species in the field! What gear combination did you use to take these pictures?

These images are spectacular! I though the bathing owl would be impossible to top. These are also in the spectacular category. You must have some kind of special relationship with owls; you consistently post superb owl images. Thanks for posting these.
BTW, is it possible this is the same owl as in the bathing owl images?

Thanks again, Dave
The bathing owl was the female, this one is its mate.
My understanding is the male does the hunting and hand-over the catch to the female which in-turn feeds the various owlets. That was my observation during the time I spent photographing this family of owls.
