This is not an easy spot to find. Ask the locals and they'll all point to the signposted Carr Brae viewpoint, but that's not the same angle. On this, my 3rd visit to the Eilean Donan Castle, I was determined to figure it out. After another frustrating evening I was about to give up, but right before heading off to Skye the next morning I decided to give it another go. Parked the car and wandered the woods in the vicinity of where I figured it must be, and finally found it. Now all I needed was good light.
Sacrificed what I figured was my best evening on Skye to make the hour and a half drive back to this spot. When I arrived it was completely overcast. Right before throwing in the towel though the skies parted just enough, and I had some light. Finally got the shot I'd been trying to get since 2005.

Wow - Just there last month. Certainly did not get that light!
Just missed each other! This was shot May 14th. I will admit, I totally lucked out with the weather on that trip. 18 days roaming from Skye down to the Cotswolds, and every day was a carbon copy of the last - beautiful.
Scotland seems to like me. I've hiked the West Highland Way twice and the Great Glen Way once, and can only remember two days that were actually rainy.
You took the good weather with you! By the time we got to the Highlands & Islands on June 8, the taditional dreach and Scotch mist had returned. But, some nice cloud effects.
