Just two this time! My little Sylvie, strong and beautiful. She turned 3 in April. This was taken using window light from my girls' bedroom's north facing window.
Sylvie was born with a rare congenital heart condition called total anomalous pulmonary venous return (TAPVR). She had open heart surgery at just 3 months old to rewire her pulmonary veins to the left atrium, where they should have been to begin with, as well as close an atrial septal defect. Had she been born 60+ years ago, she'd not have made it. I'm so thankful she was born in this generation and not my parent's or grandparent's. She's doing so well now! She's a ball of energy and so, so smart. I don't know what I'd do without her!
Constantly amazed at the progress in medicine. Over 30 years ago dated a nurse at Emory (Egelston’s Childrens Hospital) who job was to assist a thoracic surgeon who only operated on children under one. Tough job , long hours and many times heart breaking work.
Sylvie is beautiful and looks much older and wiser than three. I think the V-neck revealing the scar reminds us of her miraculous survival and thriving. Loving the b/w and lighting.
