Driving back from a brief vacation in Washington and Oregon, my wife was attempting to take a picture with her iPhone as we came upon Mt Shasta. Along our trip, she attempts to shoot out her side window, or through the windshield at what she deems are attractive scenes. It keeps her happy during this long drive, and the farm and barn scenes are indeed spectacular. When we drove north, the low clouds shrouded all the snow capped landmarks including Mt Lassen, Mt Hood, Mt Baker... you get the idea. So on the way back down the I-5, Mt Shasta imposes its presence upon you. She had been patient, and my legs needed stretching, so I pulled over this time just south of Mt Shasta City, onto a road that leads to a small airport. Mid-day conditions were on the poor side for this shot, as we were shooting towards the sun, with little contrast or shadows, but the clouds helped make it more interesting. I shot this of her trying to fit Mt Shasta into her iPhone. This shot of her will be filed in the Happy Memories part of my brain.
The way there is a sort of "hole" in the image between the towering mountain and the foreground, caused by dust at the middle distances, and then the clouds above the mountain is amazing.
When I lived in S.Oregon, I worked at Crater Lake and Mt Ashland. Shasta was always a temple in the sky! Just a beautiful mountain and the area also. Great capture!
