These are stunning. Did you use a filter? I just started experimenting with photographing into the sun like this and have been unsuccessful. Whats your advice to keep the foreground objects bright like this?

Thanks for the kind comment! Yes I used a 10 stop ND filter to try and smooth out the water. As for the technique mainly I point the camera to the sun and make sure the EV reading doesn't go over +2. In the unedited picture usually I will have a sky that looks blown out and a foreground that looks to dark. When I go to edit the photo I will lower the highlights and raise the shadows and that for the most part gives me the results you're seeing. If you would like more advice please let me know I'm more than glad to help! Hope this helps

Thanks! I actually might take you up on your offer and ask for a little more advice. Let me play around with some of the techniques you mentioned in your comment and see if that helps me. I might PM you in the future at some point and ask for more tips.

Of course if you want send me your pics and try to capture them on raw as that will help with the post processing work.

I wanted to publicly say "thank you" to Zayne for giving me some pointers on how to shoot into the sun and post-process the results. I'm brand new to this hobby (obsession?) so I appreciate any advice I can get. Here's an image I took this weekend, trying to put your tips into practice. I know I still have a ways to go, but its an encouraging start for me.

This is a wonderful community
