Congratulations to ArturS for winning Feature Thread of the Week with 7 votes - View Previous Winners

Afternoon stormy weather with short blasts of light always delivers exceptional photographic conditions. If you are lucky, the turmoil on the sky forces clouds to move unpredictably and creates the light show right in front of you.

That is some beautiful light and some wonderful and subtle work in post. Congratulations.

One small thing: It may have felt tumultuous when you were there that day, but for me the image speaks more about quiet and stillness and possibly strength than "turmoil."

Beautiful image Artur. Very desolate looking peaks. You caught the light just right here.

Thank you Dan. I agree that image might give you an impression of calmness but the experience was on the contrary. We were hiding behind some bush and we had to time it between wind gusts to get sharp shots.

Outstanding image. These are Nature's cathedrals. Where is this? (as in, which general area?)

I can believe that, having been in similar situations many times. Somehow, with all of that literal turmoil going on around you, you created a beautiful image that speaks (at least to me) of other aspects of the scene — quiet power and strength, serenity, and so on. The fact that the light seems to be coming from beyond the frame to the left amplifies this, I think.

This comment wasn't about the image which I think is very lovely and sophisticated. It was meant as feedback to your regarding how the image "reads" to a viewer who doesn't share your experience of actually being there.

Love the way you processed this one Artur. Very clean, natural feel here leveraging that nice soft diffused light. A Beauty!

Oh yes! This is what we all strive for. . . a captivating wall hanger!

As for PP I love the way you have portrayed the harshness of this location without the use of dramatic harsh processing.

Thanks! I avoid screaming processing at all cost. It is so last season
Of course, there are times that colors scream on the sky but it is usually very easy to spot what came naturally and what didn't!

Nice frame! An angle of these peaks less commonly captured, I think.

Thanks a lot! Yes, I don't think I have ever seen a photo from this angle. This is why I went there! There is still a lot to explore in Patagonia if you want to go off the beaten path and avoid masses that go to the same popular spots/compositions.
