p.1 #1 · The Subway, Zion National Park, in Spring
Hi all,
Went with the fam bam to Zion for spring break and decided to hike to 'The Subway' on the spur of the moment (as I found a few permits available online). I hiked with a friend on Wednesday. The water level was higher than when I had visited a month ago. But it also made for some great photo ops. Here are a few from my trip. I used my Nikon D850 and a Nikon 14-24 lens with the WonderPana CPL kit.

Lovely set.
Thank you. I really want to head back in the fall to photograph the fall colors. Might go back this year. The hike in the spring was pretty strenuous due to the high water levels and carrying 30 lbs of gear (and water/ food).

Wow! - well done. Amazing what a little extra water can do to the scene! Did you find the hike in / out any more difficult with the higher water levels?

Hi Todd,
I think the hike was more strenuous than normal due to the water levels. In the past, you could just walk up the creek as the water is normally ankle high in most places, but because there was so much water and the currents were so strong, you had to find a way around the creek in places. In some spots you had to scramble up huge boulders to the side, with no easy access. I was also carrying around 30 lbs of weight (DSLR, two lenses, a 4.5 lb tripod, the bag which itself weighed around 4 lbs, 5 liters of water which is around 11 lbs, snacks etc.) that added to the misery. But it was definitely worth it and I am glad I finally went in spring when the water levels are high. Like you said, it gives a different perspective to the scene.
BTW here is a short video that I made that shows the water levels on Wednesday:
