What an amazing set of work, skill, and perfection. These waterfowl images are the absolute best image quality I have seen. Your skill shines here Isaac, keep em coming.

Do you find yourself missing the extra reach of the 600 in most of your shots, or would you prefer the lighter weight of the PF more?
The answer to this is yes. You will for sure have many times that the 500 is not long enough. Even on the d850 it is not nearly long enough for many subjects. I think you need both lenses and not just one. Not easy on the wallet but for any serious bird photography I think you need a 600 F4 and a smaller and lighter complementary lens as well like the 500 PF or if you shoot Canon the 400 DO is ii or even the 100-400 ii. Those will work really well with the 600 which I use very often with the extender and still need to crop.
As an example this Long-tailed Duck is very difficult to get close to in my area. This shot is with D850 + 600 F4E + 1.4x iii and cropped as well.
