I don't know if you saw the controversy the past week about an action photo of an amazing Australian Football League player name Tayla Harris. Great action shot of her follow-through after kicking the ball for a goal, but her crotch was toward the camera and of course some idiots made some stupid comments on social media.
I wrote an article about that, and related it to dance photography and how some people feel about crotch shots. Down below is one of the pictures I used as an example of a crotch shot that some people are uncomfortable with. The dancer, just a teen, and her mom, were fully supportive of my using her pictures in the article.
Great article and thanks for presenting it from more than one perspective! Dancers put themselves in unusual positions routinely and shouldn't have to be concerned with issues like that. It can inhibits their desire to fully move and extend, etc.
I must be getting really old or something ! when I looked at your photo and the one of the player the thought of the fact their crotch is towards me doesn't even register. in stead I see the athletic abilities and the beauty of the shots. great article

Thanks. I obviously completely agree, but you'd be surprised by how many dance moms and some teachers see that crotch open toward the camera and automatically call it a "crotch shot" that shouldn't be seen. Drives me nuts.
