After scouting things out on Friday, I went back on Sunday to one of my stomping grounds to capture some short-eared owls before they migrate back north. It was a rough winter around here this year (snow cover for an extended period), and more than a few owls succumbed to the harsh conditions. Fortunately, some survived and seem in good health. These images were taken with the Nikon D850 and the Nikon 800mm f/5.6 lens. Thanks for taking a look!

Beautiful photos with excellent fine feather details. The D850 is an exceptional camera and you use that fine toll exceptionally well!
Aboutthelight, thanks! The D850 is really great when the light is sufficient.
