p.1 #1 · Zion Winter Wonderland: bridge, stone bench, house and closed roads
Here's a set of photos from my snow-day in Zion. Heavy wet snow gave us plenty of water this spring and on this day the scenery was great. I've included 2 shots of the bridge and 2 shots of a stone bench I found up in the untouched powder. This was a gorgeous day. Many of the roads were closed and foot travel was the only way to go (see last photo).
C&C welcome

Very nice, Gordon. In 2006, I went in less than two hours after a four-day snow, following the plow. A ranger called it a "100 year" event, but there wasn't nearly this much.

Beautiful big snow and nice compositions.
Which day was this exactly? End of February maybe?
Thanks xterra!
This was Feb 28, 2019. It was my day off work. So often a big storm comes to southern Utah and I'm stuck in the office thinking how great the photography might be out in the wilderness.
This time I had the day off, a HUGE STORM was predicted so I got my camera bag ready the night before. I got up, it was cold, and I wondered, "do I really want to go out in the cold?" "What will the roads be like?" "Safe?"
Then I remembered all those days in the office and I knew I had to go. I had the day off. I should see what nature gives me.
Pulling into Zion with 6 inches of powder on all the roads made me know I was in for a treat! It was so QUIET and beautiful! I loved it.

Unbelievable conditions in Zion! I sure wish I was there with you. I'll never catch anything like that. Nice imaging.

Dang, wish I would have pushed through on i-15 from SLC, but UDOT advised not to.
Anyways, FANTASTIC set!

Thanks Jeff, Dustin and Stan,
I got lucky that this coincided with a day off work. I was free to explore and photograph.
I think this came and went very fast. I photographed in the morning but it was warming up by the afternoon and snow had turned to rain. I suspect the day after my photos, things looked very different (not as good).
@ Dustin: Don't know what the SLC roads were like. Here they were slushy so I drove slow but didn't really slip nor slide.
@ Stan: 100-year event? I think we get a big snow once per year but you have to be in the right place that day. And it is not always predictable. I got fortunate this year. I'm grateful!

The first image is the one that most struck me. Hope you took this same shot but without the people on the bridge as the framing with the trees is perfect.
