If you were to travel with just 2 lenses, which ones would you pick? Same question with 3 lenses?

Here's what I have right now - I'm thinking maybe sell the 85GM and keep everything else. I still need an ultra wide and a good long lens, but I think I have most of my gaps covered.
24 GM
Batis 40 (need for close up capability)
Sony 50 1.4 ZA
85 GM
100 STF GM
Waiting for the 135
So it’s pretty much about deciding between 85-100-135? Tough question, they’re pretty different in what they do (well). Night photo? you may prefer the round bokeh balls of the 85 over the 135 and the extra speed. or not, it’s just personal preference. But then 85 is not that far from the 50, so you may want 135 just because of FL spacing.
PS have you tried a closeup lens or extension tube with the 24mm? might be interesting for restos

Actually, If I were traveling with 2 I would take either the 24 and 50 or rent an ultra wide and take the 50, but I always carry three lenses.
My daytime bag is:
either Ultrawide or 24 GM
50 1.4
100 STF
My current 3 lens travel, scouting, do it all (if needed) setup is: 24 GM, Sony / Zeiss 50 1.4 and 135 GM.
My previous light, do it all setup, was made of 4 lenses: 2 Loxias (21 and 85) and 2 Batis lenses (40 and 135). I never thought I would give up my Zeiss primes for some regular "system" lenses, but the 135 GM (combined with the shortocmings of the Batis lenses) sold me into the native Sony ecosystem
I still have a lot of other "specialty" lenses - big, heavy, "ugly' beasts
Now all I need are a multishot camera (I hope Sony or Nikon release something and I'm not "forced" into the S1R) and a yet to be developed high resolution wide angle tilt and shift lens )

I too have the 135/1.8 Gm and love it. Focus is so fast, and it's the first lens I've owned that is sharper than my old Canon 300/2.8L IS
Now I just wish that Sony would bring out a v2 of the 85GM with the AF mechanism of the 135. I'd be there in a flash. Until they do, I'm staying with my Batis.
I bought the new GM 135/1.8 and I am very happy with it. That doesn't mean I have sold my Batis 135 yet. I like having them both. Sure I'm spoiled but to me they are a little different so for landscape I use the Batis. For people and everything else the GM.
For 85mm I have the Batis. GM wasn't available at the time and I still had my Canon 85mm f/1.2L II that I shot adapted when I wanted shallow depth of field and smooth creamy images. Have since sold the Canon (and the 135L I had as well) and would love to see a 85mm GM with fast focusing.
Still own the Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS. Go back and forth on selling

The 24GM can focus close up. For overhead plated shots it works well, but I prefer 40mm for most of what I shoot, I just get consistent results when using it. I was using the CV40 1.2 before but the Batis has been what I use lately. Close focus and AF makes getting shots easy, but when light is low and I need MF I miss the CV - the manual focus on the Batis feel odd to me after using the CV for so long.

Interesting fact, I was back home in Tahiti and I did a photoshoot with a model along with a photographer friend in a low light environment/jungle wetlands.
He bought my Sigma 135 Art back in March, he was shooting with that on his A7III and I was shooting with the 135GM on my A7III, we had the same settings on both bodies, not once did he have focusing issues, but I had many times where my AF would hunt and have a hard time grabbing. We switched lenses for a little bit (and later bodies too) and he noticed the same, the AF would struggle on the GM when it didn't at all on the Sigma. We were both under the impression the GM would do better in low light but it seems like it wasn't the case, at least that day/location.
I mentioned it before – the GM has problems in backlit situations! I have also the Batis 135 and that lens performed in backlit situations much better than the GM

What type of problems? I haven’t experienced any yet.
People complain about the size of this lens, but it is f1.8! It deserves to have a grip put on the camera.
Here’s a few recent samples from the A9:
@Sirfishalot: I`m a huge fan of the 135 GM ;-) but if there is heavy backlit the lens does not find focus very well. The Batis is definitely slower in aperture and AF - but is better in critical light situations..

Congrats on the new lens. Post some samples!
Went out and took some quick shots with my daughter last weekend. I really like how it handles and Eye AF is fast and accurate. I'm trying to figure out if I should take the 135 or the 100 STF to Disney with us next week. I'm taking the 24GM and the 50ZA - I figure 24/50/100 or 135 should be a nice three lens set to carry.
