Yes. Everybody else is looking for the 100mm STF pics
hahaha well basically the Sigma test determines if I get the 135mm STF first and wait for the 135mm GM to drop in price
I mean I am not even sure what I expect from the test...my Sigma is not lacking in sharpness or bokeh or really AF for that matter but its a GM and GAS is strong for 135mm as it has become my primary focal range. I am guessing that I will be stayingn with the Sigma and adding the STF (for now) but hey, you never know lol
The Samyang 85mm could play a role on this decision too...if its good enough to be my secondary lens replacing the 85mm GM.
I’d get the Sony 100 STF and the 135 GM combo. But I would need to be doing a lot more STF type work to do that. The Samyang is 600 euros I saw posted today. I may just be the guinea pig and buy it too.

The 100mm is even more "STF" than the 135mm, maybe keeping the Sigma and adding a different FL?
P.S. AF is fast on the 100mm
P.P.S. I'm good at spending other people's money lol
I actually did a review comparison that included the 100mm stf, 135mm stf , sigma 135mm and sony 85mm GM.
I preferred the 135mm STF because of the longer focal range giving me more blur which is my main issue with the 100mm unless I get super close to my subject. But the 100mm STF is better corrected for everything and not MF of course so is a trade.

Yeah the 100 STF will be a more logical choice but I just couldnt love the amount of blur it gave me when I tested it so I favorted the 135mm STF during the comparison I did even though it has flaws the 100mm stf does not, plus is MF only.
Do it do it..we need someone to test it for us
Resolution and contrast test compared to FE 100/2.8 STF GM
Not really fair since the 100 STF is wide open but at f/2.8, the 135/1.8 GM is able to discern finer detail compared to the FE 100/2.8 STF GM and that goes for center, mid and corner.
BTW: Both well-centered copies
Center comparison at f/2.8: 135/1.8 GM LEFT | 100/2.8 STF GM RIGHT
Mid-field comparison at f/2.8: 135/1.8 GM LEFT | 100/2.8 STF GM RIGHT
Extreme corner comparison at f/2.8: 135/1.8 GM LEFT | 100/2.8 STF GM RIGHT

It's both fair and unfair as the STF is working in the APD zone in the 2.8-5.6 range. From 2.8 to 5.6 you have the APD filter in effect (with decreasing weight as you close the aperture), things will sharpen up as you close down the aperture and at f/8 the influence of the APD filter starts to be minimal. So at infinity I would use it at f/8 (maybe at 5.6 but not any larger). However I believe it still puts out a good show at 2.8 too, all things considered. Especially for a portrait lens
Thank you for the rolling review, Fred. My doom is now sealed (to be honest, Roger C had a lot to do with it :-) ).
I have always liked 135mm (the Canon 135mm f/2 was my first L lens), and I lamented the lack of a native 135mm when I bought an A7R II. I tried the Batis 135mm when it came out, but f/2.8 is too narrow. This is what I've been waiting for.

Got the Sigma 135/1.8 E-mount for comparison. It's a bit cloudy and hazy right now so I will wait for the resolution and rendering tests.
The Sigma does not feel much heavier in hands. They are both similar in size while the Sigma is a bit longer.
I just measured them and got this:
Sony 135/1.8 GM: 952g (1030g with hood) Sigma 135/1.8 E-mount: 1,194g (1,260g with hood)
The Sony hood is 13g heavier....So the difference in weight with hoods attached is only 230g.
Thanks for that.
I thought I read that the weight difference was greater.
A bit disappointing but probably livable if it’s as good as the MTF charts and AF tests indicate.
I'm actually surprised the difference in weight is that minimal. But I'm betting the Sigma feels much heavier on a body due to the "empty tube" adapter placing the majority of the weight forward. Is this the case?

My money is on a lot of copy variation and field curvature where there isn’t. But it would be a neat trick to one up the 85GM.
