Hi All,
I didn't make it out to Death Valley this winter as much as I had initially envisioned but I did have a couple nights with nice light and some rainbows thrown in. Sharing a few of my favorites. If the forecast looks promising I hope to get up there one more time before the heat sets in. Welcome any comments/critiques. Thanks
Really strong set here, Dave. On those cracked mud flats shots, are you blending focal lengths, or are you really just so close to the mountains that you can shoot a wide angle and still have them look large?
Gorgeous set! Really like the way you have processed the dune shots - great tones! Alas - I have also (yet?) not made it out as often as I was hoping this year. Gonna try again this w/e.....

I'm also curious about that 4th image. It just seems so wide angle and yet the mountains seem too close if that were the case. Very cool look though, certainly not a negative

Thanks for the comments.
The 4th image is a focus stack of three frames shot at 20mm. I found that the mountains got too small at 16mm. And yes, I'm really close to the foreground cracks ; o )

Wow, 20mm. I wouldn't have guessed! It truly looks wide, wide, WIDE! Awesome stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Another post by Dave. Another vote for featured thread. Really though, I just love your processing and your eye for composition is amazing. What can I say, I'm a big fan. That 4th crack shot is fantastic and I liked that you used a less wide lens to bring in the background. Looks a lot better. I'm also a fan of that 1st one - just the right amount of contrast while still maintaining the almost monochromatic mood. Very good processing there.
