Yes it has rained a lot; we are just a few miles from La Jolla. The rain is unusual for here but most places it is routine. We need it.

Thanks. I recently had the very unpleasant experience of watching a hunter shoot & kill one of these sweet, innocent, defenseless, sentient creatures, so it's no wonder that they (and other birds) are extremely wary of us humans.

You should post those shots....they are classic

Nice set Colin. Thanks for the info. I was unaware they fit in a flicker's nesting hole and that they used them to nest as well.
