Birdie @birdied, Bobby @bobbytan and myself went to La Jolla Cove last Friday to photograph California Brown Pelicans in breeding colors. We hooked up with Steve @1bwana1 and we spent a few hours shooting birds and surfers together. And yes, the pelicans were there alright but the Brandt's cormorants with their blue eyes and pouch are very attractive, too and one guy posed for me readily. Here are a few images of that guy from a fairly close distance.

Thank you very much, KD! They are nesting on a steep slope and there is no way you want to be down there. I took those images from a higher vantage point and there is a guard rail I used to give me the support since I handheld the gear. But they looked up and looked around quite a bit and the perspective looks fine that way.
