Ive been waiting a few years to get this kind of dramatic scene with this location, here in my home state. Two mile hike after two mile hike finally paid off. I was good, I was out on the road for two weeks. No pressure to get the epic shot. I love the hike and if it didn't work out then I would come away with another stroll through amazing Aspen forests, experiencing the unique and pleasing smells of decaying aspen leaves.
Clouds all day, me alone on a perch overlooking the miles of aspen trees. Then this...I had about 3-5 minutes to capture this amazing light. Persistence paid off, like it usually does.
Tech stuff: Canon 5dsr, Canon 24-70 2.8 II, Iso 200 F8. This is a stitch of two images.
That is fantastic! What incredible light...I know my heart would have been pounding seeing that before me. I'm glad your patience paid off with such a wonderful image.
