I'm curious to know, are there weather patterns to look for to determine if there are going to be clouds in the area? Do you use any particular website to watch the DV weather?

You nailed the conditions, the clouds are great!
Thanks!
There are a number of weather radar apps that do a decent job of predicting weather patterns, including cloud cover, precipitation, etc.
Very nice images. I like the last best, followed by the first one. The rich browns and beautiful light, plus the careful compositions, make those two stand out. Lots of people try to photograph those kinds of places in Death Valley, but your images are in a superlative category of their own.
After seeing Erin Babnik knock this area out of the ballpark some years ago, I was not sure I'd see some other like-caliber images. These certainly are. Nice job working the Playa! Congratulations.

Scroll down to map on right, navigate around map and click to select more specific location (you can also put in a location in the search box to get closer to your intended area). Then on new page scroll down to hourly weather forecast and it will bring up a graphical summary showing many weather parameters. You can change settings to go out a few days, etc. Only works in the United States.

Awesome imagery Gregg. I went to Death Valley this past March, and spent about 10 hours of online investigation time trying to find out where these cracks are located without directly asking. lol...

Well, there are only three or so places in DV where these things happen at scale, and they are all around the Trona-Panamint road. This one looks to be on the North side of that road. The cracks do look spectacular, I have not seen them this good in a long while. We just had a big rainstorm come through SoCal, I don't think it went as far north as DV. Will have to make it up there soon,
