I was in GSMNP during the last week in October. Fall was late, primarily due to (a lot) more rain in October and warmer weather. Color was spotty, but could be found. Of course, the streams and rivers were running very well. I have a thing for water anyway, so where I couldn't find color, I fell back to water. Sometimes I could get both. Here are a few from my trip.
As always, I appreciate your comments and suggestions. It's how I learn to become better.
Beautiful images, Jim! These are about as good as you can get, in my opinion. The last two are my favorites, but all of these are a pleasure to view.

Beautiful images, Jim. I especially like the first one. Third and fourth are no slouches either. Enjoyable viewing.

That first one is dynamite! Amazing image. I don't know what you could have done to get a better shot than this one.

These are gorgeous, Jim. Especially like the first image. Fine work!
Thanks! That 1st one is a favorite place of mine. It doesn't have an official name that I know of, but it's known as Bernabe Falls after Richard Bernabe, who probably is the first one to shoot this location. It is somewhat of a comp stomp, but I still think I can do better in finding it in the right conditions and light. So I'll keep going back to it until I think I've captured it the best.

lovely images Jim
Thanks! I was fortunate to have an overcast day with spotty rain when shooting the majority of these. It really made the colors pop.

Great set - you have done very well with the compositions!
I was there for a few days then too, days were a little rainy so I also opted for stream shots.
Thanks! Yeah, we left GSMNP on the Friday and headed over to Brevard. That rainstorm was something else! I tried to get out to some falls in the Brevard area, but the water coming off those things was insane and I did not feel safe getting to spots to get the comps I wanted. In some instances, spots I had been to before were totally covered in white water about 2 feet deep. I may be adventurous, but not that much so.... Anyways, the Brevard side was pretty much a bust because it turned to bright (really bright) sunny skies and too much water while we were there. And the trees just were not quite ready. I heard that the cold snap after we left turned the trees to real bright colors but were only there for a few days before they fell off.
