p.1 #1 · Sony 24mm f/1.4GM Full Review (star tests, auroras etc)
Hey guys,
I updated my review of the 24mm f/1.4 GM after using it 1 month in Iceland with tons of new images and star tests. In short: it performs great wide open at f/1.4 with the best star sharpness in the corners I've seen on a 1.4 lens.

It seems a very versatile lens from people to street to nightscapes and astro with the bonus of a reasonable weight. I am not convinced though that it is a good choice for general landscape photography. Hope to be wrong.
And great pictures btw!

Nice review. Just got mine today. It's good to know that the 24GM is good for Aurora and together with my Laowa 15mmf2 I am set for my up coming Aurora trip early next year

Great Review, thank you again! I'm curious, does F1.4 and the a7iii/a7Riii allow you to (accurately) autofocus for aurora/milky way shooting? Or if not, can you share some of your experience of the manual focus experience on stars?

I appreciate all the sample images, but at 24mp and a very limited amount of demanding landscape examples, I'm still not convinced.
He clearly states that he used the lens on a A7rIII in his review if you'd bother to read the intro text. So I would assume all images were made at 42 megapixels, not 24.

Thinking of trading my Zeiss Loxia 21 F2.8 AND Batis 25 F2 lenses for this lens. Is that sensible? Anyone think of any counterarguments?
I kept my Loxia 21 and sold my Batis 25. The Loxia 21 is one of the best landscape lenses available for any system, and the 21mm focal length has, to me, a much different effect than the 24/25mm focal length. As good as the GM may be, I can't imagine it besting the Loxia 21. Even if it did, I would want the Lox for it's true mechanical MF and its wider view.
