Just ordered mine. First ever Voigtlander lens, first manual focus lens. Super excited, even though the virus situation will slow delivery somewhat.

Mine finally arrived late yesterday evening, so not much chance to shoot with it yet. Beautiful little lens - I already feel like it will not be the only Voigtlander I own.
What's the consensus on focusing to infinity? Hard stop or just before? It seemed from my brief playaround that focusing at the hard stop worked fine, but I haven't had a proper check through yet.

There seems to be copy variation from what one reads on the net.
"Hard stop infinity" may seem convenient; but one can not be sure that the lens is REALLY already at infinity. So, infinity a little bit BEFORE the hard stop is preferable because only then the photographer can - by using the magnifier in the EVF - really control that he is at infinity, thus guaranteeing maximum sharpness. Additionally, some lenses (not this one) have quite strong field curvature so that in order to get sharp corners one has to focus further away than he would if he would want only the center to be sharp. Here this "reserve until hard stop" again is important.
That said, with an ultrawide like this, the desired DOF is rather wide anyway, so in fact one uses (according to what the EVF shows) 2-5 meters focus distance most of the time anyway.

By the way: The Tamron 17-28mm f2. 8 (which, considering price, optical quality and versatility, is the better choice over this lens anyway) doesn't have "hard stop infinity" but can focus a large amount beyond infinity. (Disadvantage: Focus by wire.)

The Tamron is good but the Voigtlander is less expensive, fits in my front jeans pocket, and produces great sun stars at f4.

I haven't heard of any "copy variation" with this model, where did you hear that?
In regards to shooting at infinity, in good light just set the aperture to f7.1 and the focus to infinity then shoot to your hearts content. Everything is in focus 😉

Thank you sirs.
I did have the Tamron 17-28, and I agree it’s a fab lens. However - and this will probably either make total sense or no sense at all - there wasn’t much to love about it. I already love this little metal Voigtlander. 🤷🏻♂️

Hard stop nails infinity for me. But at f/6.3 or 7.1 and focus at 1.5 or 2m you've got a point and shoot. For critical work obviously you can use focus assist.

North Corner is one of a few points allowing public access to the River Tamar within the extent of the Devonport Naval Dockyard. It's pier was built in the 19th century to allow delivery of supplies for the people of Devonport - the red house shown was the piermaster's house and the road above is part of the Dockyard. I can only assume that "Pen Dinas" is someone's ongoing project - it's been in that position and that condition for at least 2 years.

Walking the beach when storm clouds approached from the mainland stranding us on the beach and a small boat out in the water as the storm passed over. Luckily we were able to find shelter inland.
Can't decide which I like better. What do you think?
